A Guide to Your Clinic Visit
When you arrive at The DNA Clinic in Dagenham ( please note there are no identifying signs on the Centre to protect your confidentiality ) you will be greeted at the Clinic reception.
You will be introduced to your Case Manager who will escort you to a private and comfortable room.
Please hand in a signed copy of the Consent Forms and Terms & Conditions at reception
During your consultation, a number of topics may be covered.
● Any issues/questions you have, will be addressed
● The testing procedure will be explained
● Buccal (mouth) swabs will be taken. This is a swab that is rubbed on the inside of
the cheek to obtain cells. DNA can then be extracted from these samples.
IMPORTANT – Will those individuals having swabs taken, please refrain from eating, drinking or smoking for at least one hour before the clinic appointment. This ensures an optimum number of cells can be obtained.
● You will be asked how you would like to receive your results i.e. at the Clinic
during a Results Session with your case manager, a letter or e-mail.
Please note: Clients will receive written verification of results and there is no
charge associated with your choice.

If you need to talk to someone before the date of your Clinic appointment, please do not hesitate to contact your Case Manager.The clinic may be contacted by telephone between 9am until 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am until 1pm on Saturday. DNA tests are usually performed on Thursdays between 10am and 3pm.
