Programme / Location for one day anger / stress management course:-
The day begins with registration from 9.30am to 10am. Participants work initially in a small group ( no more than 8 people - generally 3 or 4 ), a contract is agreed at the outset including matters of confidentiality
First session:- Mapping participants issues, particular needs, hearing your story, your aims
Methods and Techniques to manage excessive feelings of anger, stress, anxiety, panic attacks and aggression. Integrating CBT and psycho dynamic approach
Exploration of root causes of excessive feelings of anger, theory, help and understanding for panic attacks, excessive stress, aggression, relationship difficulties, marriage break up, road rage, domestic violence, work conflict
Papers given on the theory and principles for anger / stress management including
Examples of false thinking/beliefs or irrational thoughts
Challenging distorted thinking. Principles of anger management. Introduction to a range of approaches for containing excessive feelings.
Second Session:-
Assessment to establish whether further treatment is indicated, to plan the nature of this treatment. Papers also offered on key areas of one’s relationships, couples conflict, understanding one’s strengths and one’s partners strengths
Third Session:- Offering applications, techniques, example strategies, tools, a toolkit to contain and relieve excessive feelings, consideration of traumatic life changes, the potential for post traumatic growth.
Further Papers and Input focusing on
Consideration of life style changes, changes in sleeping patterns. Explanation of the working of a personal anger diary. Review of goals set by individual participants. Changing the thinking in those vital seconds before the overwhelming anger is acted on.
