If accepted for a placement you will be directly responsible to the Phoenix Counselling Service Administrator who will manage your placement. The Steering Group will act as the administrator’s line manager.
You are responsible for abiding by Phoenix Counselling Service policies.
In the first instance this means abiding by BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
You will abide by Phoenix Counselling Service’s Code of Confidentiality.
You will hold professional indemnity insurance.
You will arrange and receive personal therapy.
You will be in supervision, alongside others on a college course, with a Phoenix Counselling Service supervisor that satisfies BACP’s requirements. Currently supervision fees are Ł45 monthly in a weekly group, meeting in Dagenham on Monday evenings
You will complete client assessment forms and all paperwork requested by the Administrator.
You will be asked to see clients at our centre in Dagenham, appointments are between 9am and 9pm on weekdays; 9am to 1pm Saturdays.
You will be informed of Phoenix Counselling Service’s internal complaints and grievance procedure and abide by it.
Professional Development. You will be expected to attend termly professional training seminars arranged by Phoenix.
You can expect that Phoenix Counselling Service will act in a professional manner throughout your placement in accordance with the recommendations of BACP, we attempt to work in a complimentary way to your college training, the advice and approach of your college course.
Your progress will be monitored once supervision has commenced and initially you will be given one client who has been assessed as appropriate to your stage of training. Thereafter, given normal progress in your training, you can expect to work for up to 100 hours with clients in the first 18 months of your placement.
Supervision and placement manager reports will be provided at 6 monthly intervals, at no charge to you.
If Phoenix Counselling Service feels your progress unsatisfactory and decides to end your placement you will be given an account of our reasons for this course of action.
